15. Curaçao Street Art
Jhomar is a Venezuelan-born artist based in Curaçao, known for his vibrant, surreal murals that blend fantasy with reality. His work often features striking faces and dreamlike landscapes rendered in bold, vibrant color, appearing on walls across Curaçao, Venezuela, Mexico, and Spain. Mostly self-taught, Jhomar has the focused, mild-mannered confidence of someone who simply knows what they were born to do and for him, that’s to create, constantly.
Since moving to Curaçao in 2018, he’s become a key part of the island’s ever-growing street-art scene, creating more large-scale murals than any other artist for projects and events such as the Kaya Kaya Street Festival and Window Art Project. His home-atelier in Otrobanda is an art piece in itself and a favorite photo stop for visitors and if he isn’t there, you can often find him on scaffolding somewhere around town, painting his newest commissioned work. We find his murals especially easy to interact with for memorable social-media photos, and if you tag him, he often comments or tags back.
