A long stretch of white sand, clear water and open sea in every direction. Klein Curaçao is an uninhabited island off Curaçao’s southeast coast, reached only by boat. Set aside the day for this one, with time to snorkel, explore on foot and spend a good part of the afternoon doing very little on the beach.
Bring a mask for a closer look at the reef and marine life, but leave some time for the island itself. The old lighthouse, with its faded coral colours and weathered buildings, stands out against the sparse landscape. Farther along the rocky shore, the rusted hull of a shipwreck makes a very different picture. Wonderfully ugly, especially after all that white sand and blue water. Bring shoes for the walk and take water with you, as there’s little natural shade away from the beach.
