Artist Talk: Rita Mendes-Flohr
Join us for an intimate evening with Rita Mendes-Flohr, a Curaçao-born artist who has lived and worked in Jerusalem since 1970. Through a slideshow of her photographs and installations from 2017–2025, she will reflect on how present-day Israel has shaped her creative journey.
This talk dives into the intersection of art and activism, exploring the balance between personal expression and public voice, and the responsibility of the artist in times of conflict. Rita’s perspective is deeply rooted in her own history from her Curaçao upbringing to her involvement in 1960s activism in the USA, where she studied and co-founded a feminist art gallery that she directed for over a decade.
