Curaçao Gardens brings a collection of historic houses back to life in Ser’i Otrobanda, a neighborhood of street art and old buildings with stories to tell. Owner Eric has put care and personality into the restoration, helping rejuvenate this part of town along the way. It’s a personal project, and his pride in the place comes through in the attention to detail.
Accommodations range from studios and suites to apartments and houses, with kitchens and private terraces or balconies that give you space to settle in. There are now two locations, Kas di Laman and Hulanda Village, about a ten minute walk apart. At Kas di Laman, the tropical garden and plunge pool give you somewhere to cool down after exploring Willemstad.
Eric’s restaurant, Maira’s Kitchen, is right across the road from Kas di Laman, serving Mediterranean dishes with a local twist. It’s a popular spot in its own right, and handy for breakfast before heading out. Between the restaurant, the restored houses and the surrounding art, you’ll get a sense of the neighborhood as well as a place to stay.
